\"We have achieve our goals”, says Fran Contador, one of 14 members of the Specialized-Contador-MSF team. \"The first objective was to enjoy the race within our means, but we are also pleased that we have collected a good amount for the Emergency Fund of Doctors Without Borders. The organization has told us that when we want to collaborate with other initiatives they are open to it, which means that MSF too are happy with the result”.
About the race, Fran note that this issue \"has been harder than that of 2009, especially for the marathon stage, with two very tough sectors of high mountain, although it remains an attractive race for lovers of Mountain Bike. Every year we need to go more trained, both physically and psychologically, because otherwise you risk to get lost in the desert”.
“I\'m very happy with how I\'ve been in the first three stages but the fourth I fell into a ditch during a descent and I suffered a heavy blow in the ribs. I had some crack and I\'m still not recovered”, says Fran Contador. “The balance is very good. I finished 125 overall, but the goal was not to contest the race, but fun”, he concludes.
